Podium, then a difficult race
Mixed feelings for Maxime Martin after the Dutch weekend of the 2015 DTM. The representative of the RACB National Team conquered a very nice third place on Saturday, but finished way down the order on Sunday, after being hit several times by other cars.
"During the Saturday all went according to plan", the Belgian states. "I managed to put the car fourth on the grid and after a more than decent I quickly took third position in the race. I consolidated that position, and lapped in the same times as Da Costa. That gave me my first podium finish of the season. The BMW's had a great collective result, with an M4 on the first seven places. After a couple of difficult meetings it is very nice to see that we can reap the rewards of the hard work of the recent weeks."
The Sunday race was a far less positive experience for Maxime Martin.
"I made a couple of mistakes during qualifying, which explains my 11th position on the grid", Martin explains. "I had a good start, but was hit by no less than four other cars. One of those moves pushed me wide and into the gravel trap. I joined in last position, with a damaged car. The only reason why I finished 17th is because other drivers retired from the race."
But even though the second race was not so enjoyable as the first one, Martin remains positive.
"What happened on Sunday is part of racing. The most important thing is to see that we are competitive again. This championship is far from over!"
